ESTANCIASCOREOGRÁFICAS
EC is an annual event led by the choreographer and University Professor of Choreographic Composition Yoshua Cienfuegos at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo (Spain) to explore diverse creative processes to promote artistic collaborations and the development of ideas.
EC is a Choreographic research gathering for professional dancers, choreographers, theoretical researchers, plastic artists and composers from different backgrounds and disciplines focused on choreographic composition.
The objective of EC is to encourage artistic creation and exchange, which makes of this project an interdisciplinary dialogue that aims to find new pathways for renewal of the dynamics of each individual artistic process with a strong will to constantly question the needs of our sector.
The legacy of practical and theoretical experimentation at EC is reflected in its results. Participants in EC gather relevant information about the process as its main objective is to facilitate knowledge-sharing on a shared path.

– The research process starts with a search for vocabulary that emphasizes the concepts of quality and high standards. This vocabulary is then developed in the categories of space and time.

– Choreographers work in the studios while the research team – composers, visual artists, etc.– observe and document the process.
– All participants collaborate in the process by exchanging ideas and playing with the proposed materials. Daily discussions and reports have been always essential in the process.
– Results from the discussions between choreographers, artists and the rest of the team are then applied to the work carried out the following day producing new ideas and challenges.

– EC brings together artists from the dance field as well as other performing arts (visual arts, photographers, etc.) to experiment and test ideas together in the studio.

ABOUT YOSHUA CIENFUEGOS_Short resume
Graduated in Dramatic Art by ITAE, in contemporary dance at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and Master in Performing Arts, Yoshua Cienfuegos is a consolidated creator, choreographer and director of the current Spanish scene. A founding member of the Performing Arts Academy in Spain. He leds since 1999 CienfuegosDanza, a dance company with which he has created more than 30 choreographies, as well as choreographing for companies such as BCTSM of Buenos Aires, FIA, Ballet Generalitat, CND of Costa Rica, University of Malta, FCND de Venezuela, CND of El Salvador, JCD Bari, Festival Itn de Teatro Clásico de Mérida… with which he has won several national and international awards.
